Is programming art ?
Art and Computer Programming by John Littler -- One of the great theoretical debates in computer programming is "Is programming art?" There are creative components certainly, and aesthetic aspects occasionally, but do programming's functional concerns push it more toward craft or engineering? John Littler recently cornered several well-known hackers for their opinions on the subject.

I think I read that article too.
And I do believe that programming is an art. What proves that is that sometimes you open a file and just marvel at the beauty of the code and how it's written, organized and structured, and sometimes you just hate it because it's a piece of shit.
A good programmer is truly an artist!
I have red the same article and without a doubt programming should be an art, if we just kept thinking about bytes we'll turn into machine head, but we are human, and every programmer have his own style and so it's somthing persnnel an,d when it deals with creativity even in a restricted conditions it soud be an art.
